The picturesque village of Wigancice Żytawskie / Weigsdorf in Poland was demolished to make way for a coal mine. There are calls for its reconstruction.

The village of Wigancice Żytawskie doesn’t exist physically since 1999, when it was liquidated as a result of the expansion of the Turów coal mine. Officially the village exists. Marianna D.
