Cranbourne Alley

Margate, Kent, England, UK

Demolished 1962

Cranbourne Alley was a short thoroughfare full of small shops, which once linked Churchfield Place and St. Johns Road with Churchfields. It was demolished between 1962 and 1965 as part of the Borough’s clearance scheme which opened up a direct route for traffic between Cecil Square and Grosvenor.

Part of old Margate There was a ‘holy barber’ who sang hymns while working and a shop that sold dog meat. . . Anon.
