The Marine Bathing Pavilion or Sundeck, as it was locally known, was an open-air swimming pool and amusement center featuring a penny arcade, bingo area and café. It was demolished in 1990 and the site is now used by street food merchants. The painting is based on a photograph from the 1970s posted on Pinterest labelled MLFH.
