I still miss the old New World Brewery location at 1313 E. 8th Ave. in Ybor City, FL. It was the place where I could hang out with all my fellow music nerds and feel like we were having a semi-private concert in our best friend’s back yard – a friend that also had great food and drinks. We saw so many bands play on the tiny patio that would go on to play the major venues and some that would just remain local legends. Even when there was no band playing, the sense of community and warm coziness of the bar and courtyard made you feel at home. It is that feeling that I miss and that magic hasn’t been completely recaptured in the new location. The final blow-out concert was overflowing with people, joyous celebration, and heartbreak – actual tears were shed. We were losing our place. Representative of the current development pushing out the local mainstays, the old location is now an apartment building. Shannon A.

Fuma Bella paired well with the New World Brewery biergarten venue just across the street, which also closed its doors in 2017. I have a tattoo honoring those two places, but it’s not as if I’ll ever forget Fuma Bella. David W.
